Ed Sheeran has dropped a new single "Drive," crafted as the soundtrack for the sports drama F1. The song is now available across all major music platforms, ready to rev up listeners with its dynamic energy.

The track features an impressive lineup of musicians: guitarist John Mayer, drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Pino Palladino, and keyboardists Rami Yacoub and Blake Slatkin. Mayer and Slatkin also took the wheel as producers, infusing the song with depth and intensity.

"Drive" will be part of the F1 film’s soundtrack collection. The movie is set to premiere in the U.S. on June 27. Brad Pitt stars as the lead role, portraying Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 racer who mentors the up-and-coming driver Joshua Pearce through the high-octane world of racing.

Pitt recently revealed that, while gearing up for the film, he and co-star Damson Idris logged over 6,000 miles (roughly 10,600 kilometers) in race cars over two years. The actor expressed pride in this grueling milestone, a testament to their commitment to authenticity.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran is pouring his energy into his upcoming album Play, slated for release on September 12. This record marks the close of his mathematical album series—Plus, Multiply, Divide, Subtract, and Equals—and ushers in a fresh chapter. Inspired by a concept he envisioned at 18, Sheeran’s new era revolves around themes of Play, Pause, Fast Forward, Rewind, and Stop.

"‘Play’ is an album born as a direct response to the darkest chapter of my life," Sheeran shared. "Emerging from that place, I wanted to craft joy and explore the cultures of the countries I’ve toured."
