Udi: The Art of Transforming Emotions into Music

With a growing career and a new project that celebrates the best of the Italian indie-pop music scene, Udi tells his story to our magazine. Between emotions, inspirations, and future perspectives, we discover what lies behind his reinterpretation of "Completamente."

Let's start by getting to know you better: who is Udi offstage, and what inspires you every day?

Udi is a sensible worker, a responsible person, extroverted but introspective; in my lyrics, I always bring a personal experience!

What prompted you to choose "Completamente" by Thegiornalisti for this project?

It's the song that everyone would like to sing at least once in their life; I not only did it, but I also chose to make it a bit mine!

Did you adapt the song in any way to make it closer to your style? If so, explain how.

The only way to adapt it was not to distort it.

Your reinterpretation highlights a deep emotionality. Where does this sensitivity come from?

From my life experience, my emotional and work experiences, my truths, my suffering.

How do you perceive the contemporary Italian music scene? Do you feel part of a specific scene?

No, I don't follow temporary music much; it's preaching in the desert, those with more sponsors go ahead, then there are good people, I have my cornerstones, and I try to draw from them.

How would you define your musical style to someone who has never listened to you?

Personal, individualistic, eclectic.

Is there a particular moment during the production process of this cover that you remember with fondness or difficulty?

I remember with fondness the me that I was, who laid the foundations for the me that I am today!

Are you influenced by artists or musical genres that don't fall within the indie-pop scene?

I certainly thank Tiziano Ferro for the sweetness and emotionality, Ultimo for the non-fixed patterns, Gazzelle and Tommaso Paradiso for a certain type of register.

What are your goals for 2025, both musically and personally?

I'm about to embark on a new job that will keep me very busy; it will be difficult to continue with music too, but it's my passion, and I will try not to neglect anything.

If you had to describe this cover with a single word, which would you choose and why?

Melancholy, persistent and irresistible melancholy.
