HAIM Unveil Nostalgic Single “Take Me Back”
HAIM have released a luminous, nostalgia-tinged single titled “Take Me Back,” the fourth offering from their forthcoming fourth album, I Quit, due out on June 20. The track follows earlier singles from the album: “Relationships,” “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out,” and a second version of the latter.
Danielle Haim, a member of the trio, shared the origins of the song: “We started writing it in my home studio using GarageBand. It felt right from the start—bright and effortless. We had this chorus looping in our heads: ‘Take me back, take me back…’” Once the chorus took shape, the band handed it over to Rostam Batmanglij, the acclaimed producer and former Vampire Weekend member. From there, the rest of the song flowed naturally. Danielle noted that the track’s wistful tone stems from a shared moment in the band’s lives: for the first time since high school, all three HAIM sisters found themselves single, lending the song its deeply nostalgic resonance.
I Quit marks HAIM’s first full-length release in five years, following their 2020 album Women in Music Pt. III. This time, the band leaned into their rock influences, crafting songs that feel true to the sound they’ve always aspired to create. The album, featuring CEE tracks, was co-produced by Danielle Haim and Rostam Batmanglij.
Since Women in Music Pt. III, HAIM have kept busy with select projects. They contributed to Taylor Swift’s Evermore, lending their talents to the track “No Body, No Crime.” Their longstanding friendship with Swift dates back to 2015, when they opened for her on tour. In 2021, HAIM released “Cherry Flavored Stomach Ache,” a song recorded for the film The Last Letter from Your Lover.
