Albert Hammond Jr, the guitarist and songwriter of The Strokes, has announced the release of his new solo album, ‘Melodies On Hiatus’, along with the debut of the lead single ‘100-99’. The album, which is Hammond Jr’s fifth solo album, follows his 2018 release, ‘Francis Trouble’. ‘Melodies On Hiatus’ is set to release on June 23 and is now available for pre-order.

Co-written with Simon Wilcox, the LP features collaborations with artists such as Steve Stevens, Rainsford, and Arctic Monkeys' drummer Matt Helders. The album, consisting of 19 tracks, is Hammond Jr’s longest release to date and will come with a series of visual aids connecting the tracks.

Directors Angela Ricciardi and Silken Weinberg have created five music videos for ‘Melodies on Hiatus’ that take place in a series of rooms within one larger space. These different scenes connect together to form one long night.

The album’s lead single, ‘100-99’, which features American rapper GoldLink, is one of the five music videos directed by Ricciardi and Weinberg. Hammond Jr states that he had been wanting to work on this track for a long time and was inspired by his love of hip-hop.

Hammond Jr collaborated with Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air) and Dave Cooley (Paramore, Tame Impala) who respectively mixed and mastered the album. The full tracklist for ‘Melodies On Hiatus’ is available below.
