V.A. - Magnum Opus Collectio Series: Rubedo DL

MAGNUM OPUS COLLECTIO SERIES is a set of three volumes, each inspired by the different phases of the alchemical process, which works with the prima materia to create the philosopher‘s stone. RUBEDO will be the third digital volume in the series. All the artists who have made this project possible, up to now, come from Italy, China, Iran, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Mexico, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Japan, Malta, and Poland but mostly based in Berlin or they somehow gravitate to Undogmaticsch.

The three main phases of the alchemic process have been used in the Hermetic tradition to describe personal and spiritual transmutation, as well as a medium in art and literature. These three phases also have been meant by Carl Gustav Jung as a model for the individuation process, an unrepeatable psychic process, which leads each individual to approach his ego with the self. In other words, the individuation process is a progressive integration and unification of all shadows and complexes forming the personality within oneself.

_ RUBEDO: redness or iosis, associated with the element of fire, the philosopher's mercury, cinnabar, coagulation, sunset, the meeting between the Sun and the Moon, the androgyne as a fusion of masculine and feminine, the rebis, the marriage between soul and spirit, the alchemical wedding, the philosopher's stone, the symbol of the phoenix, Hermes, Mercury, the caduceus, Prometheus.

In the context of analytical psychology developed by Jung, rubedo represents the archetype of the self conquered at the peak of the individuation process, when the fusion between the ego and the self occurs, symbolized by a red man and a white woman. It is the union of opposites, the point where the person not only reappropriates the unconscious material that had been deceptively projected outwards, but consciously re-elaborates it on a higher level by opening up to love. He thus comes to discover his true nature, receiving the manifestation of the ego in its entirety.
