General Magic & Tina Frank - GMTF Sessions 1-4

General Magic ∞ Tina Frank’s GMTF Sessions 1-4 are a wild audio-visual ride in four pieces, packed with experimental electronic music and visuals that interact, merge and degenerate into collages of scratchy and illuminating layers of shapes and sounds. The GMTF Sessions 1-4 are based on a series of improvised AV studio sessions recorded over four days in July 2022 by General Magic ∞ Tina Frank – an audio-visual syndicate established in 1995.

In 2022, General Magic and Tina Frank teamed up again, this time for two audio-visual performances in honour of their late comrade and friend Peter Rehberg. The recordings of these live sets were released as Livebop – a 30-minute AV album documenting the two shows in Vienna (28 May 2022) and London (3 July 2022). Straight after these two live shows and very much still in the mood for more live experiments, General Magic ∞ Tina Frank set up their gear once more in Andi’s studio in Berlin for four days of improvisation, which were live-streamed (16-19 July 2022) via twitch.tv/gmsessions. The resulting original four one-hour long pieces were later edited to around 30 minutes each.

With GMTF Sessions 1-4, General Magic ∞ Tina Frank deliver an explorative challenge for flicker-resistant aficionados of experimental audio-visual load tests. The four edited sessions were made available for streaming and download by generate and test – the farmersmanual publishing hub for decentralised, incremental, and opportunistic audio projects.
