Brûlez les meubles - Crayonnage

Brûlez les meubles - Crayonnage

“Brûlez les meubles” is a two-headed musical project conceived by Louis Beaudoin-de la Sablonnière and Éric Normand.

Eric and Louis have known each other for many years and share an interest in each other’s creative endeavors despite evolving in vastly different genres and environments, and living more than 500 km apart. In addition to enjoying improvising together, the two composers share a discographic binge and a passion for contemporary jazz, among other influences.

Whenever they come together, they summon different musicians to explore their musical universe, bringing to life the melodic and simple compositions that the two musicians prepare in pencil on scattered sheets during the months that separate their meetings.
For “Crayonnage,” they team up with drummer Tom Jacques and vibraphonist Jonathan Huard to present their most atmospheric and intense album, combining their influences from rock, jazz, and chamber music.

“For guitar enthusiasts, [this group] led by Louis Beaudoin-de la Sablonnière on electric guitar and his compatriot Éric Normand on bass will be a real delight. Far from thunderous free jazz, the musical creations of the Quebecois duo express a reasonable modernism, swinging between melodies and abstraction, consonance and atonality, agitation, and contemplative interiority. A very, very good addition to the jazz guitar scene here!”
