Otherworldly Things - Time Turns To Memories

Otherworldly Things - Time Turns To Memories

NYC rock outfit Otherworldly Things presents 'Time Turns To Memories', offering an irresistible first taste of their 'Heavy Dream Cycle' EP, out February 16 via New Jersey-based Magic Door Records.

With a band name that brings to mind everything from aliens to angels and other creatures, Otherworldly Things is actually a four-piece band from New York City, formed in 2014 and made up of Jim Browne (guitar, lead and backing vocals, violin), Matt Revie (guitar, keyboards, glockenspiel), Jason Binnick (bass, backing vocals, keyboards, cello) and Travis Harrison (drums, percussion).

It's been a few years since the band's first full-length album 'Beeline to the A-List', released in 2017. Like many artists, Covid and its respective lockdowns put a dent in any tangible plans for the band.

As the world began to return to normal, Jim Browne spearheaded the effort to record new material at Serious Business Records in Brooklyn with Travis Harrison (Guided By Voices, Built To Spill), who also joined the band on drums and percussion, adding some notable pizzazz for this release.

The resultant 5-track EP is entitled 'Heavy Dream Cycle'. Released on Magic Door Records, based in Montclair, NJ, it was mastered at Listen Up Studios by Jamal Ruhe (Guided by Voices, Phoebe Bridgers, Death, Jimmy Eat World, Misfits).

Formed in autumn of 2014, Otherworldly Things would deliver their debut concert in great company, opening for Buzzcocks at New York City's Irving Plaza in April 2015, even before releasing their debut album.

The band recorded their early material in Brooklyn at the legendary BC Studio, run by Martin Bisi, some of which can be found on their 'Beeline to the A-List' album. Additional material was recorded at the home studios of bassist Jason Binnick and former drummer Kevin Hudson, who ended up moving away from New York during the pandemic. The band ultimately went on hiatus... until now..

'Time Turns To Memories' is out now, available from fine online music platforms, including Bandcamp, Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon. On February 16, Otherworldly Things will release their 'Heavy Dream Cycle' EP, which can be pre-ordered directly from the band.
