Jin from BTS to Release Solo Album "Echo" in May
Jin of BTS, known offstage as Kim Seokjin, age 32, is poised to unveil his second solo endeavor, an album titled "Echo," slated for release on May 16.
Big Hit Music, Jin’s label, shared insights about the forthcoming project in a press release:
The mission of "Echo" is to forge a deeper bond with fans through music. The album will reflect Jin’s perspective on universal human experiences, capturing everyday emotions with warmth and authenticity.
The label promises that "Echo" will showcase the full breadth of Jin’s vocal prowess, traversing a spectrum of moods and styles. It will also mark a new pinnacle in his creative journey, weaving personal narratives into its fabric. The sound, described as “dynamic, like a band,” might hint at echoes of BTS’s signature energy.
This release follows closely on the heels of Jin’s debut solo project, "Happy," which dropped just six months prior in November. For years, Jin was the only BTS member without a solo album. As the group’s eldest, he was the first to enlist in mandatory military service, and the first to complete it, returning in June 2024. "Happy," a six-track EP, featured collaborations like the duet “Heart on the Window” with Wendy of Red Velvet and “Running Wild,” penned by Gary Barlow of Take That fame. While technically an EP, outlets like Billboard have referred to it as an album. "Echo" may follow a similar format, though details remain under wraps.
Beyond music, Jin is currently charming audiences on the reality show Kian’s Bizarre B&B, which premiered on April 8 and swiftly climbed to second place on South Korea’s Netflix charts. The premise follows Jin, alongside TV personality Kian84 and comedian Ji Yea-an, as they manage an eccentric guesthouse on a remote island, welcoming a parade of visitors.
