Jin of BTS Unveils Second Mini-Album, “Echo”
Jin, the eldest member of global sensation BTS, has released his second solo EP, Echo, a vibrant follow-up to his debut solo effort just six months prior. The seven-track mini-album includes the standout single “Don’t Say You Love Me,” accompanied by a music video that captures the artist’s growing creative range.
The video for “Don’t Say You Love Me” was filmed in Singapore, a project born from Jin’s collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board. South Korean actress Shin Se Kyung, celebrated for her roles in Tazza: The High Rollers 2 (2014) and the drama Six Flying Dragons (2015–2016), stars as the lead, adding a cinematic flair to the release.
Beyond the lead single, Echo features “Loser,” a collaboration with Yena, formerly of Iz*One, and “Nothing Without Your Love,” which boasts production from British DJ Digital Farm Animals, known for his work on Dua Lipa’s hit “Be the One.” The EP, according to its press release, delivers a “dynamic group sound” that showcases Jin’s vocal versatility across a spectrum of moods and styles. With Echo, the artist delves deeper into his craft, weaving personal narratives into his lyrics and exploring new dimensions of his vocal prowess.
Jin’s first solo EP, Happy, arrived in November 2024, marking his long-awaited solo debut as the final BTS member to release individual work. At 32, Jin was the first in the group to enlist for mandatory military service and the first to complete it, returning in June 2024. Happy featured collaborations with Red Velvet’s Wendy, One OK Rock’s Taka, and Take That’s Gary Barlow, earning critical acclaim and charting in South Korea’s top three while reaching number four on the U.S. Billboard 200.
As BTS fans eagerly await the group’s return, all members are expected to complete their military service by June 2025. While the group’s activities have been on hold, recent updates suggest a potential reunion later this year. Though earlier reports hinted at a possible delay until 2026, BTS’s Jungkook reaffirmed in January that the group plans to make a comeback in 2025.
