JC Miller - The Back of The Beyond

JC Miller - The Back of The Beyond

American singer-songwriter JC Miller presents his new single 'The Back of The Beyond', a song about getting lost and about being in the middle of nowhere, somewhere way out there.

"It is a stand-in metaphor for feeling isolation and like a lone wolf, even when you are walking through the crowded streets. Sometimes unplugging and losing your bearings is actually a way to regain balance, rather than lose it. I find the best way for me to hit the reset button is to take a drive to nowhere in particular, somewhere off in the far reaches. “Let’s Get Lost”, the Chet Baker song and movie, captures this same sentiment. This song is also about a specific road trip I took going through Tucson. I am so inspired by and in the desert. Always. Every time," says JC Miller.

JC Miller's music takes form through the music alchemy enjoyed with celebrated musician-producer Marty Rifkin, who is known for his work with Tom Petty, Glen Campbell and Jewel, in addition to playing pedal steel guitar in Bruce Springsteen's The Sessions Band. This new offering follows a series of diverse and catchy singles, including the latest - 'Blackberry Canes' - and preceding gems 'Tombstone Junction', 'Dead Horse Ranch', 'Sundown Slim','Wayward Son' and 'Before Nightfall'.

"Some people are fully off-the-grid and are legit nomads. I love the idea of that freedom. And in a way, that nomadic life is what 'The Back of The Beyond' is about -- or is at least, striving for. My thought is that there are different levels of the nomadic inclination in each of us. I have more than a little bit of that temperament in me. I am always roaming in spirit" explains JC Miller.

Detroit-born and Los Angeles-based, JC Miller has spent years creating music for major clients, which include the likes of Levi's, Coca-Cola and Nike. Brazenly forging his own unique musical journey as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, his songs feature catchy melodies and genuine appeal. With a knack for crafting memorable tunes and drawing inspiration from his own experiences to create songs that resonate with listeners on a personal level, Miller blends the finest aspects of Americana, Country and Southern Rock, to create a truly original sound.

JC Miller adds, "Sonic archeology-wise, I wanted the song to feel fireside and IRL, so there are no electric guitars on this song. It’s what we call an all-wood track, meaning all real instruments. I wanted to convey the idea of being without electricity and off-the-grid. Some grids we can unplug from, some we can’t. I just like to remind myself that getting recharged can often result from depriving oneself of stimulus -- rather than by adding more. I fatigue pretty quickly on the barrage of corporate hype coming at you constantly. Less-is-more when it comes to self-reflection and keeping things real".

As of October 11, JC Miller's 'The Back of The Beyond' single is out everywhere via Tilt Records, including Spotify and Apple Music, where the 'Tombstone Junction' and 'Blackberry Canes' singles can also be found, along with earlier singles.
