CARTHAGE - Duskdawn

GIVE/TAKE is proud to announce “Duskdawn” by CARTHAGE, the third in the label’s series of co-releases with Avalanche Recordings (owned by Godflesh's Justin K Broadrick).

Active since the late 90’s, and perhaps best-known for his doom metal/industrial project KHOST alongside Andy Swan (TACTICAL PAGAN), Damian B has returned to his solo project, CARTHAGE.

The full-length is a bursting tapestry of songs written and recorded during late night sessions, into the very early hours. “Duskdawn” filters inspiration from road films, journals, snatches of conversation misheard, and places partly forgotten through a sleep-deprived, medicated mist: part of the recording was interrupted by an accident and a hospital stay, which altered the entire writing process.

Subdued and intricately-layered vocals collide with shoegaze style guitar, metal shards, gorgeous piano lines, and abstract electronics. Downtempo driving and distant rhythms are interrupted by jarring transitions, like flipping stations on a radio dial. The result is a dreamlike expedition in which fans of shoegaze, post-hardcore, synth, noise rock, and post-punk will find comfort in.

The enigmatic Daniela VK — also featured on TACTICAL PAGAN's latest effort — notably contributes vocals throughout. The album was mastered by Justin K Broadrick.

“Many of the tracks were written late at night, and into the early hours — a process which inspired the title — and over time became a depiction of an alternative reality which was occuring.” - CARTHAGE

Set for a worldwide release on Friday, March 7th via both Avalanche Recordings and GIVE/TAKE, the album will be available on limited edition maxi-style CD and digital platforms. Pre-order now and receive the lead single “las maquinas no paran de hablar” instantly.

Join GIVE/TAKE for a Bandcamp Listening Party with the artist on the release day (Friday, March 7th) at 7pm CST.
