HENRIK LINDSTRAND - Space Between
"The Innocence," the second single from Henrik Lindstrand's upcoming album, and a natural follow-up to "The World Is Big," feels like a second chapter in an unfolding story. With shimmering synths as its foundation and a playful piano melody dancing lightly above, the piece sounds like a daydream in motion.

The Swedish-Danish composer and pianist Henrik Lindstrand invites listeners to immerse themselves in reflection and contemplation with his upcoming album Space Between.
Since his solo debut Leken (2017), Lindstrand has received acclaim for his ability to craft evocative compositions that create space for inner peace and introspection. His poetic soundscapes, infused with a touch of Nordic melancholy, have captivated a growing international audience.
Well-known in Denmark as the sonic wizard of the iconic rock band Kashmir and with a parallel career as a film, TV and game composer, Lindstrand has previously released four solo albums. The most recent Klangland released in 2023 gaining a five-star review in GAFFA, Scandinavia’s biggest Music publication. The album release was followed by concerts in Denmark, Sweden and Germany with the Danish String Collective Halvcirkel culminating at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
This spring, he unveils his fifth solo album Space Between.
Space Between is built around the idea of pauses that occur between notes—a place where silence becomes as vital as the music itself and through this concept Lindstrand seeks to emphasize the importance of finding sanctuaries in a noisy world:
“We’re constantly bombarded with external stimuli and lack the time to look inward, so it’s more important than ever to create pauses—sanctuaries for calm and reflection. For me, music is such a sanctuary, a realm of imagination. The album is about the spaces in between and the value of insisting on those pauses. I believe they are essential for managing the world around us and ultimately living a meaningful life,”
Space Between finds Lindstrand exploring a broader instrumental spectrum than on previous albums blending neoclassical elements with ambient and experimental soundscapes, drawing inspiration from artists such as Brian Eno and Jon Hopkins while maintaining a distinctly Nordic tone.
“I really played with my sound universe this time—flutes, clarinets, and drums have made their way in, but above all, I’ve rediscovered my love for old organs and synthesizers. The piano remains central in most tracks, but it’s been exciting to let go and explore more instruments rather than strictly sticking to the piano as I did on the first three albums. The whole process has felt much more playful and freer,” he explains.
A Gateway to a Vast Universe
With the first single The World Is Big, Henrik Lindstrand invites listeners to be enchanted by the poetry of daydreams, harking back to the boundless universe of childhood. At the beginning and end of the track you can hear clips from Lindstrand’s own childhood cassette tapes: “I found a box of old cassette tapes and they opened a whole new door to the inspiration behind The World Is Big. I pieced together a sound collage from old home recordings from the 80s and composed over them. The World Is Big is about hope, dreams, and youthful excitement for all that the world has to offer,” he says.
