Sangre de Muérdago Share Live Session, Previewing Two New Songs + Announce Iberian Tour

Galician avant/forest folk ensemble Sangre de Muérdago have unveiled their new live session, recorded last April at the monastery of Santa María de Monfero (A Coruña). The session features “A Gralla” and “O Transo,” providing a glimpse into their forthcoming seventh studio album.

The band states:
“On the morning of April 2nd, 2024, we arrived at the Monastery of Sta. María de Monfero in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, ready to record a live session. Breathing steam and with two new compositions in our pockets, we prepared to assemble everything necessary for the job.

“In this session, we introduce Xoel López and Saúl Nogareda, new additions to the band as of winter 2023, playing clarinet and cello, respectively.

“These two compositions will be part of our 7th studio album, currently in production. ‘A Gralla,’ an original composition by Pablo, tells the beautiful story of a rook dedicated to helping others and doing good deeds, accompanied by Pablo’s renowned mysterious melodies and harmonies. ‘O Transo’ is an interpretation of an old Sephardic melody from the 12th century called ‘La rosa enflorece.’“

The session was filmed by Alberto Castaño and Rodrigo Chico, with audio mixed by Roi Gil.

Since 2007, Sangre de Muérdago have been leading a path towards deep immersion into worlds of delicate and mysterious Galician folk music, gaining recognition for driving audiences into deep states of trance, transformation, intimacy and introspection. Embracing the old school musician’s way, they have graced stages of every color all around the world through numerous international tours and renowned festivals. Sangre de Muérdago have been carefully crafting a narrative of their own, in which magic becomes real and campfire folk turns into chamber music, showing deep respect and knowledge of their musical heritage and roots, while at the same time, creating new perspectives and giving birth to a new dawn of folk songs to be sung and remembered by generations to come, as far as there is music in this world...

Last year, O Vento que Lambe as miñas Feridas, the sixth full-length in the band’s prolific discography, saw the light on a spectacular handmade CD edition via their own Música Máxica on 14 April 2023 and was premiered live at Roadburn 2023, where Sangre de Muérdago were an artist in residence. Following the festival, the avant/forest folk band embarked on a 3-week European tour in May 2023. They continue to present the album live throughout Europe.

Taking it where they left it with their previous album, Xuntas, Sangre de Muérdago once again delved deeper and deeper into their haunting and always forward musical journey on O Vento que Lambe as miñas Feridas, adding extra twists, even more progressive melodies and tearing emotion.

O Vento que Lambe as miñas Feridas was later released on vinyl in October 2023. The band handled both a standard edition and a special limited edition through Música Máxica [ORDER HERE on Bandcamp], each including stunning collectible items; Throne Records (ES) and Neuropa Records (BE) both issued two different versions.

A Ilusão Da Quietude, Sangre de Muérdago’s collaboration with the ritualistic duo Judasz & Nahimana, arrived in April 2024 on four different variations of vinyl through Throne Records and Música Máxica. This 12” vinyl includes all four compositions that were created during three different artist residencies in Luxembourg in 2021 and 2023, and presented live at the Roadburn Festival 2023.  ORDER HERE on Bandcamp or HERE on Throne Records Webstore.
