ChatGPT Wins Traffic Case

In Almaty, a resident of Kazakhstan, Kenzhebek Ismailov, emerged victorious in a legal battle over a traffic violation, leveraging the power of the ChatGPT chatbot.

The incident unfolded on December 18, when Kenzhebek was driving his mother to the hospital. At a traffic light, the car in front of him stalled, forcing him to veer into a lane designated for public transport. The city’s public and road safety system flagged the maneuver as a violation.

The 23-year-old Kenzhebek Ismailov didn’t just contest the fine issued for breaching traffic rules—he did so with the help of ChatGPT. During the court hearing, which lasted a mere 10 minutes, the young man relied on the free chatbot’s speech synthesis feature. The AI understood the judge’s questions and provided Kenzhebek with precise responses in real time. Ultimately, the court found his arguments compelling and ruled in his favor.

Now, the young man is gearing up to file another lawsuit, this time against the police, seeking compensation for the time he lost in the process.
