Cast for The Beatles Movies

Sony Pictures, alongside acclaimed director Sam Mendes, has officially announced the cast for an ambitious cinematic take on The Beatles. The news comes straight from Sony Pictures itself.

The story of the legendary band will unfold across four films, all slated to hit screens in April 2028. Each movie will zero in on one Beatle: Harris Dickinson steps into the shoes of vocalist and guitarist John Lennon, Paul Mescal takes on bassist Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan embodies drummer Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn brings guitarist George Harrison to life.

Titled «The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event», the series is helmed by Sam Mendes, who burst onto the scene with «American Beauty» in 1999 and later directed two James Bond films. Mendes has shared that principal photography will span a year. This quartet of films marks the first full-length project granted rights to The Beatles’ vast hit catalog—think classics like «Strawberry Fields», «Let It Be», «I Am the Walrus», and «Yellow Submarine», among others.

For years, Mendes dreamed of capturing The Beatles on film but felt their saga was too grand for a single feature and a series format didn’t quite fit. Now, he’s crafted a vision that tells the tale of “the greatest band in history” through each member’s eyes in separate films, tracing their journey from Liverpool’s gritty streets to the heart of global culture.

The Beatles, a British beat-rock outfit formed in Liverpool in 1960, stand as one of the most commercially triumphant and culturally seismic acts in pop music history.
