Oscar Winner George Clooney Says Goodbye to Romantic Comedies
George Clooney, the Oscar-winning actor, has declared that his days of starring in romantic comedies are behind him. He believes the genre is better suited to the fresh faces of his younger peers.
«Listen, I’m 63», Clooney remarked. «I’m not out here trying to go toe-to-toe with 25-year-old leading men. That’s not my lane anymore. I’m done with romantic films». The candid admission came during an appearance on 60 Minutes.
Clooney’s most recent foray into the rom-com world, Ticket to Paradise alongside Julia Roberts, hit theaters in 2022 and raked in $168 million at the global box office. Looking ahead, fans can catch him before year’s end in Noah Baumbach’s ensemble piece Jay Kelly. Meanwhile, he’s also busy shaping the next chapter of the heist saga with Ocean’s 14.
