Leaked Plot Details Hint at Buffy Summers Mentoring a New Slayer

Whispers of a fresh take on the beloved mystical drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003) have surfaced, with leaked plot tidbits suggesting Buffy Summers might step into a mentor’s shoes. At 47, Sarah Michelle Gellar is poised to reprise her iconic role, guiding a new monster-hunting heroine in this Hulu-bound sequel.

Back in early February, word broke that Hulu was reviving Buffy, with Gellar tapped to return. Details stayed hush-hush until insider Daniel Richtman spilled some character teasers on social media. The spotlight, it seems, will shine on a young vampire slayer named Nova, with Buffy taking her under her wing to battle the forces of darkness.

Richtman reveals Hulu’s hunt for a teen or twenty-something actress to play Nova, a high schooler with grit and guts. She’ll juggle textbooks and stakes, fearless in the face of evil. Hulu’s aiming to sprinkle in some familiar faces from the original run alongside Gellar. Daily Mail reports suggest talks with Michelle Trachtenberg fizzled—she passed away at 39 in late February, leaving her return off the table. Steering the ship is Chloe Zhao (Nomadland), a die-hard Buffy fan, with sisters Lilla and Nora Zuckerman (Poker Face) penning the script. Gellar, Zhao, and the Zuckermans will also produce this eerie new chapter.
