Sarah Michelle Gellar Teases Return of Original Characters in Buffy Sequel
Sarah Michelle Gellar, the iconic star of the beloved series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003), has dropped tantalizing hints about the upcoming sequel. The 48-year-old actress revealed that the new show will see the return of several familiar faces from the original. It seems Buffy’s old allies will join her in guiding a new vampire slayer into the fray.
So far, Gellar is the only confirmed cast member reprising her role. The sequel is expected to introduce a host of fresh faces. However, during an appearance at the Filming Italy festival, Gellar suggested that Buffy won’t be alone in her fight, with some cherished characters making a comeback. She also promised a brighter tone compared to the original’s darker later seasons. As reported by Vanity Fair, Gellar shared:
«The sequel will have a lighter feel than the final seasons of the original. We’re aiming to strike a balance between new and returning characters. My dream is to bring back everyone—even those who didn’t make it to the end. But we also need to carve out space for fresh stories.»
