Sydney Sweeney, known for her electrifying turn in Euphoria, has snagged the lead role in Warner Bros. upcoming film I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, according to Deadline.
The movie draws its inspiration from a gripping short story penned by Joe Cotte on Reddit in 2021. It follows a cunning protagonist who poses as a long-lost girl to swindle her wealthy family—only to unravel the eerie truth behind the daughter’s disappearance as her scheme deepens.
A director has yet to step aboard, and no release date is set in stone. Fresh off filming the thriller The Housemaid alongside Amanda Seyfried, Sweeney’s star continues to rise. She’s also slated to return in Euphoria’s third season, expected to hit screens in 2026.
