Delighfully Deceitful - Manoeuvres Sentimentales
A note, a sound, an air, you can write them down and then leave them to be read or played; but you can also write nothing, just sit down, play your note, watch it flow and expand, add another to it and then another, and on and on. There may also be two of you: the second sits down, plays a note, watches it flow, adds another to it, and watches it drift and blend with the others. And then there can be three; the third arrives, sits down, plays a note, adds another, and another, and watches them all blend with those already assembled. And as they play, they may sometimes contemplate each other, but it’s the notes that contemplate each other above all, as they merge, stretch, spread (sometimes collide), creating an impromptu odyssey created from the notes and the sound… And when there’s nothing more to add, they stand up and say goodbye. They may have never seen each other before and may never see each other again; or they may have seen each other before and may see each other again, and then create another of the airs where sound and noise are expressed with a same impulse without ever being fixed. Music… (some say noise…) (but a real buzz…)

Manoeuvres Sentimentales is a trio of improviser-composers characterized by its energy and architectural complexity. Situated between free improvisation, experimental avant-garde, and contemporary music, their sound is intense, precise, unpredictable, and ever-evolving. With a rich blossoming of timbres, a multi-structural vision, and intricate sonic layering, Manoeuvres Sentimentales is like getting lost in a forest, standing atop a cliff facing the sea, or watching a glass shatter into a thousand shards of light…
