Miley Cyrus has unveiled her heartfelt ballad "More to Lose," accompanied by a striking black-and-white video. In the minimalist visual, the artist delivers a raw, solitary performance, her emotions laid bare before the camera.

Fans speculate that "More to Lose" is a tribute to Cyrus’s former husband, Liam Hemsworth. While the singer has neither confirmed nor denied these whispers, she debuted the track at a Met Gala pre-party on May 3, an event attended by several of her past partners.

Reflecting on the song, Cyrus shared:

«A track like ‘More to Lose’ was meant to be captured in a single take. I layered harmonies and ad-libs toward the end, but this song feels like a story. I didn’t want it to be interrupted or overthought, chasing perfection. I never aimed for ‘More to Lose’ to be flawless—I wanted it to resonate with meaning and emotion.»

Cyrus co-wrote "More to Lose" with Autumn Rowe and Michael Pollack. Rowe has collaborated with artists like Dua Lipa and Little Mix, while Pollack’s credits include work with Beyoncé and Justin Bieber. Within its first day, the song garnered 1.66 million streams on Spotify, landing at number 106 on the global Spotify chart.

"More to Lose" is a preview of Cyrus’s forthcoming album, Something Beautiful, set for release on May 30. The record will also feature previously released tracks "End of the World," "Prelude," and the title song, "Something Beautiful." This marks Cyrus’s first full-length project in two years, following 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation. Drawing inspiration from Pink Floyd’s 1979 masterpiece The Wall, Cyrus has crafted a cinematic companion film for the album, slated for release on June 6, a week after the album drops. Additionally, she plans to offer an intimate look at the creation of each song through a special video series, Behind the Track.
