Miley Cyrus Drops “Something Beautiful” Album Featuring Naomi Campbell and Flea
Miley Cyrus has unveiled her first album in two years, Something Beautiful, a vibrant collection of 13 tracks that includes the previously released singles “End of the World,” “Prelude,” and “More to Lose.” Alongside the album’s launch, Cyrus debuted a music video for her latest single, “Easy Lover.” Far from a cover of the Phil Collins and Philip Bailey classic, this original track was co-written with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, infusing it with a fresh, dynamic energy.
The album boasts an impressive roster of collaborators. “Walk of Fame” is a duet with Brittany Howard of the blues-rock band Alabama Shakes, featuring Danielle Haim of HAIM. In an unexpected pairing, “Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved” brings together Cyrus with supermodel Naomi Campbell and Flea, the iconic bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Canadian indie-pop outfit Alvvays lent their talents to “End of the World,” while Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs adds his signature guitar to “Golden Burning Sun.”
Early reviews of Something Beautiful lean positive, though opinions vary. Slant Magazine praises the album for embodying “as much personality as Cyrus herself.” NME describes it as less hit-driven but a “fully realized artistic statement.” The Guardian offers a favorable take, calling it “solid pop music,” though noting it lacks the psychedelic edge promised in its announcement. The Telegraph, however, was less impressed, singling out just four standout tracks and deeming the rest unremarkable.
Cyrus has cited Pink Floyd’s 1979 masterpiece The Wall as a key influence for Something Beautiful. In keeping with this vision, a visual companion to the album is set to follow, arriving on June 6.
