Blackpink Poised for a July Comeback
Blackpink may be gearing up for a triumphant return in early July, according to South Korean broadcaster JTBC, citing industry insiders. The buzz follows confirmation from YG Entertainment, Blackpink’s label, that the group recently filmed a new music video in Seoul during the first week of June. Word has it that a “renowned director,” whose identity remains under wraps, helmed the project.
The group is set to kick off their Deadline world tour on July 5 with back-to-back concerts in Goyang, South Korea. It’s been nearly three years since Blackpink released a full album, and anticipation is mounting for what promises to be a spectacular comeback. Earlier speculation from TenAsia pointed to a June release, but with most of the month now behind us and no firm details, a July launch feels more plausible.
In May, Lisa Manoban, one of Blackpink’s four members, confirmed the group was hard at work on a new album, teasing that it would drop “soon” without pinning down a date. Over the past six months, each member has ventured into solo territory: Rosé unveiled Rosie in December, Jisoo dropped Amortage in February, Lisa released Alter Ego that same month, and Jennie Kim followed with Ruby in March. Rosé had already hinted at Blackpink’s return before Rosie’s premiere, while Lisa firmly debunked rumors of a breakup, affirming the group’s importance to both fans and themselves.
Beyond music, Blackpink’s members have also made waves in acting. In 2023, Jennie Kim appeared in The Weeknd’s controversial series The Idol. Though the show faced criticism, her performance earned praise. In 2025, Jisoo takes the lead in the zombie drama Newtopia, while Lisa Manoban makes her screen debut in the acclaimed series The White Lotus (2021–present).
