I translate each book I read into a painting, from reading Shakespeare, Ovid, Homer and translating it into my paintings. It shows us how to live and die, to embrace sorrow, to grip and release hate, to truly love. The lines show the emotions from each book. This is also coming from metamorphosis – the passage of time, mortality, love, beauty, Infidelity and jealousy. Looking at the structure of the body and making sure the specific movements relate to the books. The work here is based on Apollo & Daphne.
Passion and Possession.
Sacrificing her human body & forming into a laurel tree ~ her heart still beats.
Filled with transformation and motion.
Depicting the savage, sexual hunt of a goddess by a god. Here I am trying to convey human emotion between Apollo & Daphne. I'm using violence as a troubling allegorical and artistic vehicle.
