Slighter - Have No Fear single

Slighter - Have No Fear

Alternative-electronic artist Slighter presents his new single 'Have No Fear', an intense, moody and cinematic offering with traditional A-side and B-side versions, released via Confusion Inc. This is the first taste of his full-length album 'This Futile Engine', forthcoming this summer via Brutal Resonance Records.

Slighter is the solo moniker of Colin C. who has been fine-tuning the future of electronic music since kickstarting his music in Mid City Los Angeles in the early 2000s. Creating from a unique vantage point, he was involved in collaborations for various Metropolis Records releases and Cleopatra Records compilations, in addition to Slighter releases via his own Confusion Inc. imprint.

Mixed and mastered at The Cell Studio, this new 13-track record features collaborations with Steven Seibold of Hate Dept, Yvette Winkler of Vaselyne, Craig Joseph Huxtable of Landscape Body Machine, Morgue VVitch, Deep Dark Water and more.

In his continued path of sonic experimentation and innovation, Colin provides new fuel for the counterculture. 'Have No Fear' features Slighter's signature vocal style on top of a noisy rumble of techno-beat programming and grinding synth manipulations. The B-side ('Dark Rave Mix') is a more DJ-friendly offering that kicks up the BPM and pulls back the arrangement for maximum dance floor mayhem. The accompanying video was created by Psyklon Industries.

"'Have No Fear' is a song that took a while to come together, but it was actually one of the first ideas I had for the new Slighter album. Coming off of my last album 'V O I D' (released in 2021), I wanted to break away from that creative vein I was tapping then, but still have some catharsis in the songwriting," says Colin C.

"The "Have No Fear' recording sessions were all hardware synth jams, very organic moments that shaped my direction for the whole new record. But it took awhile to find the voice for it, the lyrics are intentionally personal but there's some universality to reminding oneself that fear is a choice to make."

While very much an independent artist who largely files under the musical radar, Slighter's music has also found its way on to mainstream shows over the years, with songs and remixes featured on such television shows as Showtime's 'House Of Lies', 'Elementary' (CBS), 'Bones' and 'Lethal Weapon' (FOX), 'Defiance' and 'Covert Affairs' (NBC-Universal).
