Night Ritualz - Piensa En Mí

Based in the Texan city of San Antonio, darkwave/synth punk artist Night Ritualz (aka Vincent Guerrero IV) weaves deep Latin influences into his songs, blending English and Spanish lyrics with music that combines atmospheric soundscapes suffused with pulse-pounding beats to tell stories that are both deeply personal and universally relatable.

Having issued a self-titled debut album in March, Night Ritualz has today issued a cover version of the Spanish language song ‘Piensa En Mí’ (Think Of Me) as a standalone single. Originally written in 1935 by Agustín Lara and María Teresa Lara, it was popularised in the 1948 film ‘Revancha’ and later sung by pop singer Luz Casal in the 1991 Pedro Almodóvar film ‘High Heels’. Deeply nostalgic and iconic within Latin culture, Night Ritualz delivers his own modern take on the song in an irreverently playful yet powerful synthwave style.

Night Ritualz initially drew inspiration from artists such as Depeche Mode, Deftones and At The Drive-In, blurring the line between dark wave, electronic, EBM and post-punk to create a genre he terms ‘fuck wave’. Having released a number of singles, these and several newer songs were included on 'Night Ritualz’, an album he describes as “a time stamp in my music journey. The songs are all very different and I feel that it’s a good representation of myself and where I am at this point in my life.”
