Twenty One Pilots have unveiled their latest single, “The Contract,” accompanied by a strikingly dramatic music video. The visuals plunge the duo into a shadowy realm inhabited by enigmatic figures, where unsettling and surreal events unfold.

The narrative of “The Contract” picks up precisely where the storyline of their previous video, “Paladin Strait,” left off. The new video was helmed by director Frédéric de Pontcharra, whose portfolio includes collaborations with artists like Feder and Ofenbach, as well as high-profile campaigns for brands such as Lancôme and Puma.

“The Contract” serves as a preview of the duo’s forthcoming eighth studio album, Breach, slated for release in September 2025, though an exact date remains undisclosed. The track was co-written with Youngblud, credited under his real name, Dominic Harrison. Production duties were handled by the band’s frontman, Tyler Joseph, alongside their frequent collaborator, Paul Meany.

Breach marks Twenty One Pilots’ first full-length project in nearly a year and a half, following their May 2024 release, Clancy. The album was first teased in May 2025, with the band hinting at connections to both Clancy and their iconic 2015 record, Blurryface, which celebrated its tenth anniversary on May 17, 2025. The duo has now revealed that Breach will serve as the concluding chapter in this narrative arc. Initially, they considered expanding Clancy with additional tracks, but scrapped the idea when fans mistook it for a deluxe reissue. Instead, they opted to craft an entirely new album.

In 2024, alongside Clancy, Twenty One Pilots contributed the song “The Line” to the soundtrack of the acclaimed series Arcane (2021–2024).
