Virgin Vampires - Whores and Judaism

Virgin Vampires, the enigmatic British trio, are set to unleash their ferocious second album, "Whores And Judaism", on Rune Serpent Europa. Marking a dramatic stylistic shift from their electronic debut, the new album plunges headfirst into a raw, unadulterated realm of classic gothic and post-punk, cementing the band's position as a formidable force in the contemporary dark music scene.

The album's incendiary new single, "At The Cemetery", tells the tale of a party in a graveyard. This pogo-inducing track, marked by a haunting death bell, has already garnered attention on various compilations and is destined to become a genuine hit. The accompanying video for "At The Cemetery" is available to view now, with the single now streaming on most major streaming services.

"Whores And Judaism" signals a significant change for the band, with every trace of electronics shed in favour of searing guitars, driving rhythms, and a truly authentic 80s atmosphere. This pivotal release also sees Uela – known for her work in sister project Pink Panther Project – stepping into the vocal spotlight, her powerful contributions seamlessly alternating with the two male voices to create a complete and cohesive sound.

The album features a powerful guest appearance from Lisa Hammer of Requiem In White, lending her formidable vocal talents to the track "Beautiful”.

The 11 tracks on "Whores And Judaism" crumble powerfully, one after another, showcasing a relentless energy. The album opens with the crude dance of "Caligulae Insanus Imperator" featuring Latin lyrics and a powerfully delirious pace. Catacomb dances continue with the two versions of "Martyrdoms And Crucifixions I and II" which underpin the album's often blasphemous and anti-Christian themes, highlighted by the provocative introduction: "She's a whore and on the story of a whore they built an entire Religion".

Further highlights include "Are They Real Or just Me?", with its psychopathic lyrics and a distinctly British gait, reminiscent of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. "Tibet" features Indian lyrics, while "Medusa" remains faithful to the album's powerful vocal delivery and catchy chorus. The album culminates with "I Feel Dead Here", an almost Arabic, desert-like piece with guitars and an atmosphere that evokes the best of Rozz Williams and Christian Death.

"Whores And Judaism" is a sure hit, its freshness, aggressiveness, and maturity immediately apparent. There isn't a single subdued moment, with every phase reflecting the album's powerful core – a true milestone for the post-punk gothic genre of our times, offering a pleasant contemporary dive into the past.

"Whores And Judaism" will be available in two limited edition vinyl formats: 250 copies on Black LP and 250 copies on Red LP.
