Kate Bollinger - Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind
The Virginia-born, LA-based multidisciplinary artist releases her kaleidoscopic debut album, Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind this Friday. Written during a period of transience and change, the album was made to resemble a mixtape, and casts a collage-like vision that's instantly memorable and uniquely mystifying. Inspired by the sounds of the 1960s, Bollinger and her band have crafted a collection of pop songs, polished yet scrappy with an underlying punk spirit, navigating life, relationships, and growing up.
Bollinger can seem as much like a songwriter as an art-house auteur. She and her close collaborators were hands-on for the album's imaginative music video series, writing storyboards, building sets, and more. They've collected all the scenes behind Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind in a new zine available exclusively from her website.
"One of the most tailor-made Autumn releases you're likely to find in 2024, writes Raven Sings The Blues. "Strung between contemporaries like Sylvie and Weyes Blood and a link to the past that nods to Linda Perhacs and Susan Christie, the record is both contemporary and classic."
All the songs are streaming today. Limited edition emerald LPs are shipping and available bundled with her new Lonely / Sweet Devil 7" release.
