Taylor Swift Tops IFPI's Global Artist Chart for a Record Fifth Time

The IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) has named the most successful artists of 2024. Taylor Swift took first place – she tops this chart for a record fifth time, after 2014, 2019, 2022, and 2023.

Drake came in second place – it seems that the lost beef with Kendrick Lamar did not greatly affect his listens. The k-pop group Seventeen closed the top three leaders. Here is the entire top ten, with last year's ranking in parentheses:

  1. Taylor Swift (1)
  2. Drake (4)
  3. Seventeen (2)
  4. Billie Eilish (-)
  5. Stray Kids (3)
  6. Zach Bryan (16)
  7. The Weeknd (5)
  8. Eminem (14)
  9. Kendrick Lamar (-)
  10. Sabrina Carpenter (-)

Eilish and Kendrick Lamar returned to the top after missing in 2023: they last appeared on the list in 2022. Eminem and Zach Bryan rose quite well: in last year's ranking, they occupied 14th and 16th places, respectively. Sabrina Carpenter has never even made it to the IFPI tops, and 2024 was a breakthrough year for her in all respects. Here is the second ten, from 11th to 20th place:

  1. Ariana Grande (-)
  2. Post Malone (19)
  3. Morgan Wallen (6)
  4. Enhypen (-)
  5. Travis Scott (17)
  6. Kanye West (18)
  7. Lana Del Rey (10)
  8. Beyoncé (-)
  9. Linkin Park (-)
  10. Bad Bunny (9)

The second part of the IFPI top is also pleasing with loud returns. Thus, Ariana Grande has not been included in this rating since 2021, and Beyoncé since 2016. At the same time, Linkin Park is in it for the first time. In fairness, the IFPI list first appeared only in 2013: if the report had started in 2000, Linkin Park would definitely have been in the top more than once.

The chart takes into account all listens of artists, including physical sales, downloads, and streams.
