Cristobal Tapia de Veer, the musical mind behind The White Lotus, will not be crafting the soundtrack for the show’s fourth season, which has already been given the go-ahead. The reason? A simmering feud with showrunner Mike White, who reportedly exerted pressure on the composer’s creative process.

It seems the White Lotus team was keen for the series’ music to take a “cheerier” turn. Yet, de Veer himself was no stranger to bold experimentation—something evident in the third season’s score, which veered sharply from the tones of the first two.

Tensions between de Veer and White flared further after the debut season’s music drew flak from viewers. The new opening theme for The White Lotus struck a sour note with many, fueling the rift that ultimately led to the composer’s exit.
