The Black Keys have released “No Rain, No Flowers,” a shimmering, introspective track that drifts like a reverie. The song is the lead single from their forthcoming album of the same name, slated to drop on August 8. With its lush, atmospheric sound, the track sets the tone for a record the band describes as crafted with deep care and affection, hoping its warmth resonates with listeners.

Behind the boards is Rick Nowels, a producer renowned for shaping the sonic worlds of Lana Del Rey and Marina Diamandis. Notably, The Black Keys’ frontman Dan Auerbach shares a creative thread with Nowels, having contributed to Lana Del Rey’s acclaimed 2014 album Ultraviolence, often hailed as her finest work. This connection lends “No Rain, No Flowers” a subtle, evocative depth, blending The Black Keys’ raw edge with a polished dreamscape.

The single is the third glimpse into the new album, following the earlier releases of “Babygirl” and “The Night Before.” “Babygirl” boasts the touch of pop hitmaker Scott Storch, known for crafting chart-toppers for Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera. The album’s full tracklist, revealed alongside the single, promises 11 songs: “No Rain, No Flowers,” “The Night Before,” “Babygirl,” “Down to Nothing,” “On Repeat,” “Make You Mine,” “Man on a Mission,” “Kiss It,” “All My Life,” “A Little Too High,” and “Neon Moon.”

The Black Keys’ most recent effort, Ohio Players, arrived in April 2024, featuring guest appearances from Beck, Noel Gallagher, and rapper Juicy J. Though it peaked at a modest 26 on the Billboard 200—lagging behind 2022’s top-10 Dropout Boogie—the album earned critical praise and secured two Grammy nominations for 2025: “Best Rock Song” and “Best Rock Performance,” both for the standout track “Beautiful People (Stay High).” With “No Rain, No Flowers,” The Black Keys are poised to bloom anew, their sound as vibrant and resilient as ever.
