Blackpink Poised for a Comeback with New Music Video in the Works
Blackpink is gearing up for a triumphant return, with cameras rolling for a new music video in Seoul. On June 9, their label, YG Entertainment, confirmed the group is hard at work on a fresh visual project helmed by a «celebrated international director» whose identity remains under wraps for now.
YG Entertainment shared a statement brimming with anticipation: «The video is being shot in Korea, guided by a globally acclaimed director. It promises to be another iconic visual that captures Blackpink’s unique flair and musical vibrancy. As global superstars, the expectations are sky-high, and this collaboration will deliver nothing less.»
The group’s last full album, Born Pink, dropped nearly three years ago in September 2022, followed by the 2023 single «The Girls.» After that, Blackpink went quiet on the group front. In late 2024 and early 2025, each of the four members—Rosé with her album Rosie, Jisoo with her EP Amortage, Lisa Manoban with Alter Ego, and Jennie Kim with Ruby—unveiled solo projects. Throughout, the quartet consistently dispelled rumors of a breakup, reassuring fans that a group comeback was on the horizon.
In February, Blackpink announced the dates for a new world tour, kicking off in less than a month on July 5 in Goyang, South Korea. By April, whispers of a potential summer album began to circulate, and in May, Lisa Manoban fueled the excitement, confirming the group was back in the studio. While TenAsia hinted at a June release, no concrete details about the album’s title or launch date have surfaced. Lisa, however, teased that it’s «coming soon» and urged fans to hold on just a little longer. Now, with news of the music video shoot breaking, it seems the full scoop on the album may not be far behind.
