Playboi Carti Finally Drops Long-Awaited Album Music

Playboi Carti’s Music Album: A Star-Studded Release

Playboi Carti has at last unveiled his new album Music, also known as I Am Music. Fans had been buzzing about it for ages, but the rapper kept them waiting—until now, delivering a hefty 30-track opus.

The album boasts an impressive lineup of guest stars: Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla $ign, Young Thug, and Skepta. You’ll catch Lamar on “Good Credit,” The Weeknd on “Rather Lie,” Travis Scott on “Crush,” and Lil Uzi Vert on “Jumpin,” to name a few.

Music marks Carti’s first full-length release in over four years, following his 2020 album Whole Lotta Red. He hasn’t exactly been silent in the interim, though. In 2024, he popped up on Metro Boomin and Future’s We Don’t Trust You and lent his voice to The Weeknd’s “Timeless” from the recent Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025). Before that, he made waves on Kanye West’s 2023 projects, Vultures 1 and Vultures 2.

Hot on the heels of Whole Lotta Red, Carti teased his next venture. Originally dubbed Narcissist, the project morphed into Music, then I Am Music, before circling back to Music. Slated for a fall 2021 debut, the release date kept slipping, leaving many fans doubtful it would ever see the light of day. So when word broke on March 13 that it was dropping the next day, skepticism lingered—until Music hit streaming platforms on March 14.

Early reactions are pouring in, with praise for the album’s stylistic range. Some say the long wait was worth it, a reward for their patience. Others aren’t as sold—while they find Carti himself compelling, they feel Music doesn’t quite tap into his full potential.
