Pink Floyd Share Live Video for “One of These Days”
Pink Floyd have unveiled a live video for “One of These Days,” a glimpse from their iconic concert film “Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII.” Originally released in 1972, the film will see a revamped 4K premiere on April 24.
The updated “Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII” features a fresh audio mix by Stephen Wilson of Porcupine Tree. As for “One of These Days,” it’s the opening track from Pink Floyd’s sixth album, “Meddle.” Nearly instrumental, it carries a single, chilling line—“One of these days, I’m going to cut you into little pieces”—delivered by drummer Nick Mason.
Filmed in 1971 amid the ruins of an ancient Roman amphitheater, “Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII” captures the band performing without an audience, observed only by the film crew. The setlist includes “Echoes,” “Careful With That Axe, Eugene,” “A Saucerful of Secrets,” and “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun.” The film also weaves in rare footage of Pink Floyd at Abbey Road Studios, crafting their seminal “The Dark Side of the Moon” (1973). Nick Mason describes the film as “a rare and singular document,” preserving the band’s live essence in the era just before that landmark album.
The new audio edition of “Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII” will include bonus tracks, among them an extended, previously unreleased version of “A Saucerful of Secrets.” The album’s release will follow the film’s premiere, arriving on May 2.
