The Birthday Massacre is a Canadian gothic and electronic rock band formed in 1999. They gained widespread recognition with their 2005 breakout album ‘Violet’, featuring standout songs ’Blue’ and ‘Happy Birthday’ that cemented their signature sound - a hypnotic blend of eerie, ethereal melodies and heavy, driving riffs.
The Birthday Massacre has intricately woven captivating new chapters into their hauntingly beautiful lore over subsequent years. ‘Under Your Spell’ (2017) and ‘Diamonds’ (2020) immersed listeners in their unique blend of dark whimsy and nostalgic melancholy, while their most recent Billboard charting album ‘Fascination’ (2022) further exemplified their mastery of atmospheric storytelling, presenting a soundscape that feels both familiar and transformative.
With each new release expanding the band's universe through lush, cinematic production and deeply emotive lyrics, The Birthday Massacre continue to remain a permanent fixture in the dark pop and gothic rock scenes, beloved for their dynamic live performances and enduring artistry.
