PRAVAH PROJECT - Liitle One
‘Little One’ is a brand new single by the London born singer-songwriter, performer and visual artist Vin Bairo (aka Pravah Project) and marks his return to the music scene following an extended break to care for his family. Written after a conversation with his five year old niece about the aftermath of personal loss, it is the first song to be issued from a forthcoming album entitled ‘Sutures’.
“This song is a conversation with a child about losing those closest to you and telling the truth of how that feels,” explains Vin. “It shows that life isn't always pleasant, but that it is also important not to get stuck in one mode and that moving forward helps life to blossom again.”
Initially intending to make an acoustic album consisting of a handful of existing songs plus a few more to be written during the recording sessions as part of his healing process, plans changed after Vin sought out the guidance and experience of artist, producer and composer Marc Olivier (Marc O) at Plastic Sound Studios. The latter’s knowledge and love of music connected with Vin’s own aesthetic and together a magical journey began that turned his songs into a true artistic collaboration that has reverberated into a new dawn.
Despite the songs all being deeply personal to Vin, with Marc’s input they have also evolved into a love letter to the artists who initially inspired him such as Beck, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith, John & Yoko, Joni Mitchell and more.
Layers of texture unique to each song have been built, allowing each its own personality for what Vin has attempted to present. This has included the utilisation of Marc’s string arranging talent (inspired by his love of Serge Gainsbourg and James Bond themes) and also incorporated the drumming of Christophe Deschamps (Jacques Dutronc, France Gall) and guest vocal contributions from CodeNameQuiin.
While mixing the album, the idea of connecting each song with snippets of sound was discussed, with Marc commenting to Vin that they would be ‘sutures’. Given that the album has been a conscious well-being exercise for Vin from the off, it became an obvious title for an album that has ended up stitching everything together.
'Sutures' is a truly eclectic body of work and has paved the way for the next phase of Vin’s career. Given the blossoming connection with Marc, all his future collaborations will be released as Pravah Project and be a fluid, always welcoming opportunity to combine with other artists and different ideas. Pravah is the Sanskrit word for flow and can refer to the flow of time, the course of events and the flow of water.
‘Sutures’ has been beautifully mastered by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios.
