The Weeknd has unveiled the music video for «Hurry Up Tomorrow», a poignant glimpse into his inner world. In the video, the artist sings and plays the piano within a house that echoes his family’s home, adorned with cherished family photos and snapshots of a young Weeknd. A display of photographs bears the heartfelt inscription: «A family makes a house a home». As the video draws to a close, The Weeknd is enveloped in darkness, a fitting metaphor for the song’s introspective tone.

The track is part of his album Hurry Up Tomorrow, released on January 31. Fans have hailed it as the most personal song on the record, with The Weeknd, credited as the sole writer, baring his soul. In the lyrics, he grapples with remorse for past mistakes and bids farewell to his stage persona. It seems likely that he will soon perform under his birth name, Abel Tesfaye—a shift already reflected in his social media presence, where he now goes by Abel.

On May 16, the film Hurry Up Tomorrow premiered globally, with The Weeknd in the starring role. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the movie features Barry Keoghan and Jenna Ortega in key supporting roles. Following the critical drubbing of his 2023 series The Idol, which was canceled after a single season, The Weeknd may have hoped to redeem his acting credentials with this project. However, Hurry Up Tomorrow—titled the same as the album—has met with mixed reviews. Critics have called out the film for indulging in self-absorption, suggesting it may only resonate with the artist’s most devoted fans. The movie is slated for release in Russian theaters on May 29.

The Hurry Up Tomorrow album, a 22-track effort featuring collaborations with Lana Del Rey, Travis Scott, and Florence and the Machine, has garnered generally positive reviews, though without overwhelming acclaim. It made a strong debut on streaming platforms and claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200, cementing The Weeknd’s enduring influence.
