American Film Academy to Award Oscars for Stunt Performers
Beginning with the 100th Academy Awards, the American Film Academy will present an Oscar in a dedicated category celebrating achievements in stunt artistry.
“From the earliest days of filmmaking, stunts have been an essential thread in the fabric of cinema. We are thrilled to honor the work of these remarkable artists,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang.
More than 100 professional stunt performers are members of the Academy’s Production and Technology Branch. Nominees in this category will be drawn from films released in 2027. The nomination and voting guidelines for this inaugural award will be announced in 2027, alongside the full regulations for the milestone ceremony. At that time, the Academy will also share specific details about the presentation of the awards.
