Gianni Negri - E Staje Cu Mme

A total surrender to love. “E Staje Cu Mme” (And You Are With Me), the new single by Gianni Negri (PaKo Music Records/Believe Digital), is the synthesis of what, deep down, cannot be synthesized: the presence of the other that becomes essential, the need that is not spoken, but recognized.

A restrained greeting on the threshold, hands that do not let go, even when everything around is in pieces. For the first time in his career, the Neapolitan singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist writes and performs a song entirely in the Neapolitan language, opening a new chapter in his artistic trajectory. A choice that is not only stylistic, but also about identity: a return to his roots, an affectionate gesture, an affirmation of belonging, of loyalty to what remains, even when time and noise try to silence what truly matters.

Produced by Valerio De Rosa, “E Staje Cu Mmme” does not simply narrate a feeling, but traverses and embraces it entirely: in joy, in fragility, in the urgency of being there despite everything. An intimate dedication to those who are there, not out of obligation, but by choice. An essential sound, capable of supporting the lyrics without extinguishing their breath, without invading them, accompanying them with balance and measure, leaving space for the meaning.

«“E Staje Cu Mme” – explains Gianni Negri - is a caress that arrives after the noise, after the days when one even doubts oneself. It is my tribute to those who are there, to those who do not back down even when it would be simpler to do so.»

In today's landscape, where ISTAT data confirm a constant decline in marriages and an increase in separations (+31.2%), “E Staje Cu Mme” stands as a counter-narrative: an invitation to cherish intimacy not as a refuge but as a conscious choice. A song that does not celebrate the beginning of love, but its tenacity over time, when the initial enchantment gives way to reality, and staying by someone's side becomes an act of will and care. Choosing each other, declaring oneself necessary to the other is not just romanticism: it is an act that, today, can be considered almost revolutionary.

In a time when bonds seem fragile, sentimental relationships are often archived at the first crack, and many songs portray love as obsession or salvation, “E Staje Cu Mme” moves on a more mature level: that of presence. There is no idealization of the other, but the realization that truly loving means accepting their silences, their distance, their differences. This song suggests another path: a bond that is strengthened through fragility, and finds meaning precisely in mutual recognition. Because silence, even more than words, becomes the place where absence is measured:

«Luntano a te nun sacc’ stà, pecchè o silenzio me fa chiagnere»
(«Far from you I don't know how to be, because the silence makes me cry»)

But “E Staje Cu Mme” is not a nostalgic response. It is a present, everyday gesture. A song that does not mythologize, but recognizes. And for this reason, it resonates.

«Pecché tu si na parte e me, pecché pur’ io so’ parte e te»
(«Because you are a part of me, and I too am a part of you»)

After years of releases in Italian, Gianni Negri chooses Neapolitan to say what would not sound the same in Italian. A language that digs deep, that holds back, that knows how to touch without invading:

«Writing in Neapolitan was like coming home – explains the artist -. Every word has a different, more visceral weight. Some things can only be said this way.»

In recent years, the Neapolitan language has experienced a new spring, also thanks to mainstream phenomena that have brought it back to the center of the national music industry. But here, no trend is being chased: “E Staje Cu Mme” is a necessary return, not a calculation.

A story that speaks to those who know that loving does not mean holding back, but being there without fanfare. To those who have learned that the most sincere, genuine, and profound feeling does not lie and is not measured in promises, but in silent gestures that do not ask, but affirm. To those who have understood that true love is not what happens, but what is built. It is not about staying at all costs, but about understanding when the other is part of us, even in difficulty.

«E nun me lass’ maje sti mane, pure si fora ’o tiempo è scuro e fa paura»
(«And never leave my hands, even if outside the weather is dark and frightening»)

A verse that does not invoke, but declares: even in uncertain days, closeness can be a choice, not a consequence.

«Pecché tu si na parte e me, pecché pur’ io so’ parte e te»
(«Because you are a part of me, and I too am a part of you»)

A phrase that needs no explanation. In a few words, the simplest and most disarming definition of mature love: not something that is possessed, but something that composes us. A shared reflection. An identity that is created together, in the continuity of a presence that does not seek definitions. A trust that does not seek constant confirmation. A closeness that, even in the dark, becomes a foothold.

A foothold that is not born from dependence, but from that kind of love that does not need to be perfect to be true. An everyday life that rests on the choice to continue being there even in opaque moments, in days that do not shine.

After duetting with Laura Pausini in the Neapolitan version of “Durare” (To Last) and a series of releases that have refined his songwriting profile, Gianni Negri confirms himself as one of the voices that is best rewriting contemporary Italian singer-songwriter tradition, between language, belonging, and writing.

This is perhaps the most authentic message of “E Staje Cu Mme”: love that becomes solid not because it is perfect, but because it is shared even in bad days, in silences, in hesitations. A song that brings attention back to themes concerning the construction of a lasting relationship, made of daily presence, shared imperfection, and silent dialogue between two souls who choose to recognize each other every day. Because staying, despite the darkness, despite the cracks, is an act of beauty and resistance. And in this, the song suggests that intimacy, today more than ever, is a revolutionary act.

Biography.

Gianni Negri, born Giovanni Sambiase, is an Italian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Naples on June 13, 1980. He took his first steps in music at a very young age, encouraged by his singer mother, from whom he takes and to whom he dedicates his stage name. He studied singing and solfeggio, plays the piano and guitar, and participated in numerous singing competitions and events, achieving considerable success. He wrote his first song at the age of 17 and, starting in the 2000s, performed on many Neapolitan stages. Former voice of the band Angeli Metropolitani led by Gianfranco Caliendo and former guitarist of Il Giardino dei Semplici, he has been artistic director for numerous cultural events and, in 2007, lent his voice to Franky & Frog in the Disney film “Meet the Robinsons”. In addition to his musical experiences, he dedicated himself to theater and for several years sang and acted with the resident company of the Palaeden at the “Edenlandia” amusement park in Naples. After a period of musical stand-by, his official solo debut single, “km. zero”, was released on December 7, 2018, followed by several releases that allowed him to be noticed by the Milanese record label PaKo Music Records, with whom he signed his first record contract in January 2023. In December of the same year, after releasing a series of songs that reaffirmed his elegance and sensitivity, he participated in the annual meeting of Laura Pausini's Fan Club and realized not only the dream of playing on stage with her, but also that of duetting on the single “Durare”, in a version adapted into Neapolitan, written by Negri himself. In May 2024, in collaboration with Patrizia Kolombo, singer-songwriter and owner of PaKo Music Records, he created “Così Non Finirà” (This Won't End Like This), a song that tells of the courage to love beyond the fear of suffering, available in Italian and in a suggestive Neapolitan version, titled “O’ssaje nun po’ fernì” (You Know It Can't End). Endowed with an incredible narrative ability, a unique and incisive touch, and an instantly recognizable vocal style, Gianni Negri gives sound and form to emotions, weaving the profound truth of his lyrics with the immediacy of the rhythms and sounds that envelop them.
