At the Stagecoach festival in the United States, Lana Del Rey took the stage to perform her latest track, «57.5». In this song, the artist weaves a tale of kissing country music star Morgan Wallen—an encounter that, by her account, left much to be desired.

The song’s title nods to Del Rey’s Spotify listener count at the time, 57.5 million, though that figure has since climbed to 61.9 million. More than a numerical reference, «57.5» delves into the enigmatic allure of Del Rey’s success and offers a meditation on the state of today’s music industry.

As for Morgan Wallen, the 31-year-old country singer, Del Rey, now 39, quipped that their kiss «sent his head spinning.» She playfully cautioned her audience against joining him for ATV rides. Yet, in a nod to modern connections, she remains a follower of Wallen’s social media.

The track «57.5» is likely to appear on Del Rey’s forthcoming tenth album. Initially slated for release on May 21 under the title «The Right Person Will Stay», the project has since been delayed and retitled, with no new release date or name announced. In the meantime, Del Rey has shared two singles from the album: «Henry, Come On» and «Bluebird». The latter, she revealed, was inspired by a real bird that flew into her window.

Del Rey’s most recent album, «Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd», arrived in March 2023. In 2024, she had planned to release a country-infused record titled «Lasso», but later rebranded it as «The Right Person Will Stay», expressing a deeper interest in southern gothic aesthetics. Now, it seems, Del Rey is once again reimagining the album’s direction.
