The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its 2025 inductees, a vibrant lineup that includes The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, OutKast, and Joe Cocker. The induction ceremony, set to celebrate this eclectic group, will take place on November 8, 2025, six months from now.

Joining them are Bad Company, Chubby Checker—known for the dancefloor classic «Let’s Twist Again»—the trailblazing female rap group Salt-N-Pepa, and Warren Zevon, whose wry «Werewolves of London» remains a cult favorite. The list also features soul producer Tom Bell, British keyboardist Nicky Hopkins, American bassist Carol Kaye, and DreamWorks Records founder Lenny Waronker. Several honorees, including Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, Warren Zevon, and Soundgarden’s late frontman Chris Cornell, will be inducted posthumously.

Not all nominees made the cut. Oasis, Joy Division, Billy Idol, and Mariah Carey were among the contenders but fell short in the final selection. Oasis, nominated for the second time after their first bid in 2024, faced a particularly vocal setback. Frontman Liam Gallagher had openly mocked the Hall as a place «for posers» while admitting he’d attend if the band were chosen. Fans, buoyed by the group’s recent reunion, had hoped for a different outcome, but Oasis remains on the outside looking in. Mariah Carey, also overlooked, quipped that her lawyer had made it into the Hall before she did. Progressive rock band Phish, despite strong fan support, also missed the mark.

In 2024, the Hall welcomed Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Mary J. Blige, Foreigner, and Kool & the Gang. Notably, Osbourne earned a rare double induction—first as Black Sabbath’s frontman in 2006, and again in 2024 as a solo artist. The 2025 class, with its blend of rock, pop, rap, and soul, promises to continue the Hall’s tradition of celebrating music’s diverse tapestry.
