Giordano Amici interview. L'immenso
Italian singer-songwriter Giordano Amici invites us on an intimate and profound journey with his new single, 'L'immenso,' dedicated to mothers – the first love and safe harbor in all our lives. With captivating melodies and heartfelt lyrics, Giordano celebrates the values that have inspired him and shares exclusive details about the creative and personal process behind this special song. In this interview, we'll delve into the soul of the song and explore the thoughts and emotions that guided its creation.
Welcome, Giordano! Your song 'L'Immenso' is a special tribute to motherhood. What inspired you to create such a deeply personal song?
This song was born from a need for personal reflection, a desire to take a moment for myself. I wanted to make a tribute to the women who shape our lives, especially to my mother. I wrote it one evening alone in the studio, after a day spent with my mother, supporting each other through a great pain that had struck our family. At that moment, I was sad, but at the same time, I wanted to find a way to tell her, 'Mom, look how strong you are, you've always been that for me and we'll continue to be a family together.' And I believe that, beyond my interpretation, anyone who listens to my song can dedicate it to their mother. I truly hope so.
You involved your wife and children in the chorus of 'L'immenso.' How did it feel to share such a personal and meaningful song with your family?
It was a truly special experience. It wasn't something I had planned, but it felt completely natural. One day, while I was recording the demo, my wife and kids came into the studio and joined in, adding their own harmonies. It was a spontaneous moment that felt incredibly special. Having their voices on the track created a beautiful connection between generations. It's a memory that I will cherish forever, and I hope it will be something they cherish too.
The song celebrates the value of family. What role does family play in your creative life?
Family has always been the most important source of inspiration for me. Music and family are two sides of the same coin. At home, I find peace and support that help me create. And music, in turn, allows me to express my love and gratitude for my family. When I wrote this song, I wanted it to be a kind of bridge between generations, uniting us all.
"L'immenso" has a strong universal message. How do you hope your song will resonate with a global audience, especially in places like Ukraine?
The love between a mother and a child is something that everyone can relate to. I hope that 'L'immenso' can serve as a reminder of the love and strength that mothers provide, even in the most challenging of times. I believe that music has the power to transcend borders and connect people on a deep emotional level, and I hope that this song can offer some comfort to those who are suffering, especially in Ukraine.
What experiences in your artistic journey have had the most significant impact on your personal and professional growth?
Without a doubt, the most significant moments have been my live performances and experiences sharing with other musicians and artists. These experiences have allowed me to learn so much from others and to grow as a person. I believe that sharing your music and collaborating with others is a fundamental part of being an artist.
Your music often has a very emotional and personal approach. How do you manage to transform such deep emotions into words and music?
Thank you. I appreciate that. It's not something I can really explain; it's more of a feeling. I guess I just try to be as honest and true to myself as possible in my songwriting. I want my music to be a reflection of my own experiences and emotions, but also to connect with people on a universal level. I want my songs to be a place where people can feel safe and understood.
During the creative process of 'L'immenso,' was there a particular moment that changed how you perceived the song?
Yes, there was. The moment my wife and kids spontaneously joined in on the recording was a real turning point. It completely transformed the song for me. It felt like we had stumbled upon something truly special and meaningful.
Have you ever received advice from your mother that you carry with you throughout your life and music?
Like everyone else, I cherish the advice of my parents. Although it's often only years later that we realize how precious it is. Perhaps because when you reach a certain maturity, you have a different awareness of yourself and life in general.
Respect is a value that I have assimilated since childhood.
This principle guides my actions in every area of life, from personal relationships to work. And I am convinced that respect is the foundation of a more just and civil society.
What can we expect from your upcoming musical projects? Will you be continuing with the same intimate themes, or exploring new musical territories?
I'm excited to share that my first album is almost complete! It's been a journey, and I'm really proud of the results. While I'll definitely be touching on some of the same deep, personal themes that I explored in songs like 'Lara' and 'Fiocco Viola,' I'm also looking to incorporate some lighter, more upbeat tracks. I believe that music has the power to connect with people on a deep level and inspire them to think about the world in new ways.
To conclude, is there anything you would like to share with Ukrainian readers? A question we haven't asked but that you feel is important to add?
I'd like to take a moment to express my admiration for the Ukrainian people. Your courage and resilience in the face of such aggression are truly inspiring. The images coming out of Ukraine are heartbreaking, but they also show us the strength of the human spirit. Your children, your families, and your soldiers are all fighting for a better future. Please know that you are not alone. The world is watching and supporting you. We stand with Ukraine.
