Peter Dinklage Wreaks Havoc in New The Toxic Avenger Remake Teaser
A fresh teaser trailer has landed for the superhero trash-horror flick The Toxic Avenger, a reimagining of the 1984 cult classic. In it, Winston Gooze—better known as the Toxic Avenger—tears through a gang of thugs with unrelenting ferocity. Peter Dinklage, famed for Game of Thrones (2011–2019), steps into the role, and critics are already raving, calling it a hardcore, laugh-out-loud riot.
The story follows Winston Gooze, a down-and-out janitor at a chemical plant. One day, a freak industrial mishap sends him tumbling into a vat of toxic sludge. Miraculously, he emerges a mutant with superhuman powers, dubbing himself the Toxic Avenger and setting out to battle crime.
In the teaser, our green vigilante takes down armed political extremists storming a café—though much of the carnage unfolds just off-screen. Don’t expect Batman’s restraint here; unlike the Dark Knight, who locks up his foes, Winston spares no one in his brutal crusade.
Critics can’t get enough, showering the film with praise and a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviews hail its zany humor, gory showdowns, and vivid characters.
Peter Dinklage plays Winston pre-transformation and lends his voice to the mutant post-makeover, while Luisa Guerreiro (Snow White, 2025) dons the prosthetics for the Toxic Avenger’s hulking form. Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore) directs, with Troma Entertainment—the original’s creators—backing the production. The cast also boasts Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Kevin Bacon (Mystic River), and Jacob Tremblay (Wonder).
The Toxic Avenger hits theaters worldwide on August 29.
