Brett Goldstein, the star of “Ted Lasso” who brought Roy Kent to life, has likened the show’s upcoming fourth season to a cat resurrected from the grave.

“I have this friend from university, and I often think about him,” Goldstein shared. “His cat died—run over by a car. He loved that cat. They buried it in the garden, just like that. He was only a kid.

That night, he lay in bed, heartbroken, sobbing, and praying, wishing with all his might, ‘I want my cat back.’ And then, somehow, the cat came back. Except it turned out the cat they buried wasn’t even theirs. That story’s stuck with me ever since,” said the actor, who also serves as one of the show’s writers.

Goldstein admitted that news of “Ted Lasso” returning feels much like that childhood moment: “We laid it to rest… We wept, held a funeral. And now you’re telling me we can bring it back? That’s almost too much power.”

Earlier, Jason Sudeikis confirmed the revival of “Ted Lasso.” The new season will center on a women’s team, with the script already in development. Sudeikis will reprise his role as the affable football coach, joined by returning cast members Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Swift.
