Will Smith has announced that Zendaya may star in the film "Hancock 2." According to him, there is already an idea for the plot. The 56-year-old actor will return to the role of the superhero John Hancock.
Will Smith shared details about the sequel to "Hancock" 2008 during a stream with blogger xQc on Twitch. The actor confirmed that the film is in active development. There is a cool idea. One of the main roles was offered to 28-year-old Zendaya ("Dune"):
"There is a really cool idea for "Hancock 2." But we haven't really talked about it yet. I'll give you one little detail. Zendaya is being offered a role in the film "Hancock 2."
Back in 2009, it became known that "Hancock 2" was launched in development. In 2012, director Peter Berg said that negotiations were underway for a sequel. Will Smith, as well as producers Michael Mann and Akiva Goldsman, also took part in them. According to Berg, one of the main problems of production is choosing a time to work that will suit all members of the team. The director said even then that Smith had an idea for the plot. Charlize Theron stated in 2020 that she was ready to return to the role of superheroine Mary Embry:
"You know, for some time we were talking about a sequel. I think closer to the release of the first film, not in recent years. [...]. And I'm still ready! I would be happy to star in a new film."
The focus of "Hancock" is on a reckless superhero John Hancock, who suffers from amnesia. Hancock struggles with alcohol addiction and tries to remember his past. The film earned $624 million at the global box office with a budget of $150 million.
Zendaya will appear in the 3rd season of the series "Euphoria" in 2026.
