"Wednesday" Season 3 Hinted by Jenna Ortega

Jenna Ortega, the star of "Wednesday," has dropped a tantalizing hint that Netflix might be gearing up for a third season of the hit series. In the same breath, she offered a sneak peek into what’s brewing for Season 2. The Tim Burton-directed spin-off of The Addams Family is set to lean heavily into nods to classic horror flicks in its upcoming episodes, with Ortega reprising her role as the delightfully macabre Wednesday Addams.

Season 1 of "Wednesday" (2022) stormed to the top of Netflix’s charts as the most-watched English-language series, a triumph that swiftly secured a second season. Given its runaway success, it’s hard to imagine the streaming giant pulling the plug on this crown jewel anytime soon. In a chat with Collider, 22-year-old Jenna Ortega hinted at more to come, suggesting at least one additional season might be in the cards—though Netflix hasn’t given it the official green light yet. Still, the creative wheels are turning:

“I know the writers… With a show like this, you want to map things out well in advance. So I think they’re already sketching out ideas,” she said.

Filming for Season 2 wrapped up in December 2024, and the team is now deep in the editing suite. Ortega isn’t just the face of the series—she’s also a producer, keeping her hands on the reins even after the cameras stopped rolling. She’s committed to seeing it through to the final cut, though she kept plot details under wraps. What she did spill? Season 2 will feature a full episode inspired by classic slashers, packed with tributes to iconic horror films:

“There’s an entire episode rooted in slasher territory. We’re weaving in plenty of horror nods… We got to tackle bigger, more intricate scenes this time, which has been a real treat.”

In the first season, Morticia and Gomez (Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán) shipped their daughter Wednesday off to Nevermore Academy, a haven for outcast teens with mystical quirks. But the campus turned sinister when a mysterious Hyde began a killing spree. The beast turned out to be Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), the sheriff’s son, manipulated by teacher Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci), who harbored a vendetta against the outcasts. Tyler ended up behind bars, while Laurel, it seems, met her demise.

Season 2 of "Wednesday" is slated to premiere in 2025.
