Walton Goggins Teases Big Secrets in Fallout Season 2
Walton Goggins, a standout in the Fallout series, has dropped tantalizing hints about what lies ahead in its second season. According to the actor, the upcoming episodes will peel back layers of mystery surrounding the show’s post-apocalyptic universe, with major revelations awaiting his character, Cooper Howard, and Lucy MacLean in the bustling city of New Vegas.
In a conversation with Complex, Goggins kept plot details under wraps but promised that Season 2 will surpass its predecessor in scope. The 53-year-old actor shared that showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are delving deeper into the desolate world of Fallout. Fans can anticipate fresh secrets about the nuclear war that shattered civilization and the shadowy Vault-Tec corporation:
“We’re diving headfirst into Season 2 of Fallout. Now that the audience knows this world, the new story takes it to an entirely different level. I’ve been in this industry a long time, and I know that franchise shows with big followings often hit their stride in the second season. That’s when the real magic happens. We’re digging deep into the story with Season 2. It unveils key details, stays true to the tone we set, but then veers off in the most intriguing ways.”
Set 219 years after a nuclear war that obliterated society, Fallout traces the fallout—pun intended—of Vault-Tec’s role in the catastrophe. The first season’s finale saw Vault 33 dweller Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) and the ghoul Cooper Howard (Goggins) heading to New Vegas, chasing Lucy’s father, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), a Vault-Tec operative who fled there. Lucy seeks answers about the apocalypse, while Cooper hopes to track down his lost family. New Vegas, a sprawling hub of the wasteland, rose from the ruins of Las Vegas and is central to the 2010 game Fallout: New Vegas.
Production for Season 2 is underway, though a premiere date remains unannounced. The first season debuted in 2024.
