Jackson Wang’s GBAD

Jackson Wang of Got7 has unleashed «GBAD», a music video that dances on the edge of dark comedy. In it, the artist tumbles into a bizarre realm where he dons a superhero mantle, swooping in to save the day. Wang himself co-wrote the script, teaming up with director Rich Lee—known for his work with heavyweights like Eminem, Lana Del Rey, and Billie Eilish—to bring this vision to life.

Musically, «GBAD» weaves alternative R&B with jazzy undertones, crafted under the deft hand of Grammy-winning producer Dem Jointz, whose résumé boasts names like Rihanna, Kanye West, and Christina Aguilera. The track is slated to appear on Wang’s forthcoming album, «Magic Man 2». While an exact release date remains under wraps, whispers suggest the record could land as early as 2025.

Earlier this year, Wang gave fans a taste of his bold creativity with «High Alone», another visually striking video laced with a near-manic storyline. That piece peeled back layers of loneliness and isolation, spotlighting the lengths a creative soul might go to capture an audience’s gaze. The video sparked a whirlwind among fans—some fretted over Wang’s well-being, while others brushed it off as art doing its job, a canvas for emotions shared by many performers. Like «GBAD», «High Alone» is earmarked for «Magic Man 2».

Though the release date for «Magic Man 2» remains a mystery, a few details have trickled out. It’s a follow-up to Wang’s 2022 album «Magic Man», his most recent full-length effort. There’s a chance the tracklist could also feature his duet with Ciara, «Slow», alongside solo singles «Cheetah» and «Henny», unveiled between 2023 and 2024. Meanwhile, Got7 fans have had their own treat: the group dropped their EP «Winter Heptagon» on January 20, their first release in nearly three years. Their last album, «Breath of Love: Last Piece», dates back to 2020.
